Description |
Navajo/Diné wedding basket. In ceremonial uses, it would be upside down and played as an instrument. Rightside up, it may hold cornmeal. The opening in the design would be placed facing to the east. Extended Visual Description -The basket is made in a spiral pattern. -underneath the reed material the basket frame is wood. -The ink that is used is what looks like only two colors, however; the colors have fade over time. -looking down into the center of the object there is an knotted piece of cotton twine. - the colors are a range from natural, burnt reddish orange, dark moss green and a dyed up marker black. |
