Description |
Tlingit trinket basket with lid. Extended Visual Description Round basket with lid. Basket has four bands of decoration, separated by three narrow bands of lighter material. The bottom band and the band third from the bottom have woven four leaf clover type designs, where each leaf is the length of two normal woven stitches. The band second from the bottom and the top band have dark colored rectangles encircling the basket, connected by dark lines. There is a fifth band at the top which is not decorated and is covered when the lid is on. The base of the basket is puckering up and inward. The rim of the basket, and some of the basket itself, is distorted and rippling vertically. The lid has a circular raised center, like a knob for lifting. There are two bands of decoration - one at the outer edge of the main lid, and one at the edge of the circular handle. The design on these bands are the same as rectangular decorated bands on the basket. |
