Description |
Oblong twined basket. Bottom of basket is cedar bark and sides are beargrass. Basket is 11'' long, 8 wide and 4 1/2"high. Has four horizontal bands of color. Plaited cedar bark base edged with western sweetgrass; body wrapped twining; wrapped edge; scallops around basket are broken. Extended Visual Description Basket has brown circular loops at the top which are frayed going down the long sides of the basket on the end sides the loops are also frayed and creaked. The green squared pattern that goes around the basket has faded and the brown that is underneath is now showing through. The next 9 rows of the basket are of brown squared designed and are faded to a lighter brown. The next row of purple squared design has faded to a pink color followed by a row of brown row of brown square next another row of purple same here the color has faded to a light pink , then their is 9 rows of light or natural brown square rows, followed by purple row, with another row of light brown, followed by green and brown rows that inter mixed with each other both of which are faded from their original color, then a rows of purple below faded then rows a light or natural brown rows that go to the bottom at the bottom their is purple rows on the bottom followed by inter layed of checker board weaving. At the top their loops on one long side the loops are missing, on the other long side the loops have flatten and one loop is creaked and broken, on the end sides one side is missing its loops for the basket, on the other end both loops have flatten and one creaked also broken into. The color on the inside more to natural state then the outside. The color on the outside has been expose to light issues over the years |
