Description |
Kain, or tapi. A wrap around skirt. Red, blue, and yellow stripes. Tapis are sewn together from three narrow widths of cloth woven on a backstrap loom (often in contrasting stripes of black, orange or red). Seams are embroidered and accentuated in contrasting bright colors (usually in yellows, oranges and shades of green). Extended Visual Description A rectangular cloth wrap with horizontal stripes, wavy knit designs, tassels with beads/shells, and vertical knit designs on each end. The stripes are blue and orange, knit designs is yellow, green, orange, and white. The end knit designs are yellow, orange, and black. The tassels' beads are brown and yellow with one white shell piece at the end. There are two sets of tassels with two rows each. The bottom has 20 tassels, the top has 21. The top has 9 stripes then the wavy design, two rows of tassels over 7 stripes, wavy design, two rows of tassels over 7 stripes and ends with half the wavy design. The two ends' designs are the same. |
