Description |
Shallow basketry tray/bowl with star design. Extended Visual Description A round, shallow coiled basket. The base is flat and the sides extend upward at an obtuse angle. The basket is woven from a plant material (grass) that appears of a relatively uniform width. The weave is tight. The basket is primarily tan in color, with dark brown patterns. The dark brown varies in shade but it is difficult to tell if this was deliberate or due to a variation in the material or fading. The base is tan encircled by a dark brown sun with nine rays. The sun is surrounded by tan material with a ring of 18 dark brown ticks, each two stitches wide. The rim of the basket is one row of dark brown. A geometric pattern consisting of two sets of right triangles connected by lines is repeated six times around the sides of the basket. The exterior mirrors the interior. |
