Description |
Wrapped twined basket with circular plaited cedar bark bottom. At base of basket is a multi-colored band of green, yellow, red, and purple. The middle band are series of triangle figures above an bellow yellow and red alternated stitching. Design is of dyed beargrass Extended Visual Description Roughly circular Makah basket. Base of basket is a rectangle of wider woven bark with finer work around the edges of the rectangle and on the body of the basket. There are two bands of decoration on the basket. The band at the bottom has two rows of red at the center, between 2 rows of yellow on each side, between 2 rows of green on each side. The band at the upper center of the basket is a series of triangle figures pointing outward above and below 2 rows of yellow and red alternated stitching. The base material is darker in color than the main body material. The body of the basket is beginning to warp. |
