Northwest US. Bag, beaded, floral design, fringe. Yakama. Beadwork in front: White background; flowers red, orange, blue, yellow, green. Cotton flannel lining, buckskin back and edges with buckskin fringe. Circa 1940s to 1960s. Has cut and seed beads. Extended Visual Description Rectangular beaded bag with leather handles and fringe. Beading is done against a background of white beads. Design is of 3 red flowers, each with 6 petals around a 4 section center. The center flower is near the bottom of the bag and has a pinkish center. The other two flowers are in the upper corners of the bag. All are approximately the same size. Flowers are outlined in dark blue beads. There are also two red buds visible, and 9 leaves, 4 larger, 5 smaller. The bag is edged and backed in a light colored leather. The inside is lined with a red plaid fabric. |
